37. James7 Joslin (John6, William5, Thomas4 Josselyn, Abraham3, Thomas2 Josslyne, Ralfe1 Josselyn) was born Abt. 1757 in Virginia, and died Abt. 1791 in Lincoln Co., Ky. He married Elizabeth Taylor. She died Unknown.

Page 33 (ref. page 36) James Joslin, heir-at-law, to James Joslin deceased, assignee of James Mayfield, commissioner's certificate, 400 acres at the head of the North Fork of Clinch River.
Page 103 (Ref. page 10) James Joflin (Joslin? Joplin?) dec'd assignee of James Mayfield, head of North Fork of Clinch, settled 1776.
From these two entries we can find the original acquision of James' land and then its disposition to his son, James, Jr. It possibly was here, on the Clinch River, that James later was killed in a fight with Indians.
James Joslin took the Oath of Allegiance to the States, 1777. It is found under the list of James Robertson, Page 143, Revolutionary War, on Microfilm (Roll No. unknown), in Virginia State Library. Also listed are Jacob Harmon Sr., and Jr., Israel Harmon.
James Joslin was said to have been killed in a battle with the Indians that took place somewhere along the Kentucky frontier during the early part of the 1790's. His father's Will, dated June 29, 1793, leaves a portion of his estate to James' children, Lucy and James, Jr., naming them as his grandchildren. In 1794 James' brother William was appointed by the court of Lincoln Co., Ky, as guardian of James and Lucy Joslin, children of his deceased brother James.
Notes for Elizabeth Taylor:
Elizabeth Joslin appears on the Montgomery Co., Va. Tax List for the year 1782 with 200 acres of Land. Her maiden name possibly Taylor, which would account for Taylor name used as a first name by Stephen and Lucinda for one of their sons, as follows:
1st child Jane, for Jane Gibson, Stephen's mother.
2nd child James, for James Joslin, Lucinda's father.
3rd child Taylor, for Lucinda's mother.
4th child Israel, for Israel Harman, Stephen's father.
