She was born 1759 in Upper Creek Nation, Little Tulsa, Elmore Co., Aabama, and died 1811 in Baldwin Co., Alabama.
Notes for Charles Weatherford:
Charles went to the Creek Nation prior to 1778, shortly after the close of the American Revolution, in company with Samuel Mims, who was once engaged with George Galphin in the Indian trade. He was also a friend of Lachland McGillivrey. Charles was a Government Contractor. He was a trader. He lived at his Horse Track on the Alabama River, about five miles upriver from his wife Sehoy. It was customary for Indian couples to live in separate housing, and Charles kept that custom with Sehoy. At one time, in 1792, Creeks attacked and captured a young girl by the name of Elizabeth Baker and after murdering her family, brought her back to Coosawanda, across the river from Charles. After hearing of the girl he ransomed her back, putting her into the care of Sehoy, his wife. She may be the adopted child who is buried with Sehoy and her sons.
Notes for Sehoy III:
Florence has not verified any of this story. It is inserted here for family interest only, until further verification can be made. Taken from an account by Belinda Pierce of Spokane, Washington, 1999.
Sehoy III was of the Wind Clan, which was referred to as "The House of Wind, The Ruling Tribe." Sehoy was brought up in her early days by Sam Moniac. She was very beautiful as was her mother and grandmother. In letters to Col. A.J. Pickett (The History of Alabama) which are dated 1858, it is stated that Malcolm McPherson was the natural father of Sehoy, who had married John Tate and Charles Weatherford. Some seem to think that Lachlan McGillivray was her father. Sehoy was introduced to Charles by McGillivray, who arranged for their marriage.
The Americans that had removed from the white settlement and into the Alabama area were surprised to find the Creeks were quite wealthy and living in permanent housing, along with slaves. They were also a tribe that was rich in farmlands and domesticated animals.
At the birth of their son, Red Eagle, there was in attendance a huge delegation of Chiefs and Prophets of the Creek nation because of the importance of Sehoy's rank as a princess in the ruling Wind Clan. Her young chief spent his first ten years in the atmosphere around Alexander McGillivray. The respect that the young Chief carried for his fine "uncle" proved beneficial for the future Chief in his fight for his people. Sehoy is buried with her sons William (Red Eagle) and John (Jack) and a daughter and an adopted child. They are buried on David Tate's "Brickyard Plantation"

See note for Sehoy III and Charles Weatherford, his father.
At the age of sixteen, where he had completed his three years of preparation he became a Warrior of the Creek Nation. By the time he was age twenty, he had become a Minor War Chief. He was a very handsome man with undeniable qualities for leadership of his people. He was also a wealthy young man who could indulge in dramatic costumes and fine horses. He would dress in the most elaborate bleached white buckskins and rode the finest of the stallions from his father's stables at Little River. He made a very striking appearance with his black eyes and handsomely bronzed face.
